Upcountry Provisions looks to expand with crowdfunding
Cheryl and Steve Kraus, owners of Upcountry Provisions Bakery & Bistro in Travelers Rest, have launched a crowd-funding campaign to help open a second store in Greenville.
If their goal of raising $43,500 on Kickstarter.com is met, Cheryl and Steve plan to use the money for a second shop in an old restaurant on Pendleton Street in the Village of West Greenville – the Greenville neighborhood formerly known as the Pendleton Arts District.
The couple opened in their Travelers Rest location in December 2011, providing fresh baked breads, cheeses, dry goods, sandwiches, pizza and other fare to visitors from their bakery and cafe on State Park Road.

Travelers Rest nominated in 'Coolest Small Towns' contest
Travelers Rest is once again in the running to be named one of the “Coolest Small Towns” in the U.S., and your online votes in Budget Travel magazine's annual contest can help propel the city into one of the top positions.
In 2012, Travelers Rest finished in 11th place out of 924 entries, with just 2/10 of one percent separating the city from a top-10 finish.
The top 15 finalists in the competition will be chosen using votes as a guide, and you can vote once a day through the end of the year. The finalists will be announced in January, and a new round of voting will determine the top 10 winners, all of which will be featured in Budget Travel magazine.
